Graduate Journals

The advent of the internet has increased the opportunities for graduate researchers to publish their work through open-access, online journals. Whilst not necessarily as prestigious as those produced by large publishing houses under academic editors, online (post)graduate journals still play a vital role in disseminating research, enabling communication between scholars with common interests, and delivering feedback on work for early-stage researchers.

Kaleidoscope: The Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Journal of the Institute of Advanced Study

Published under the auspices of the Institute of Advanced Study at Durham University, Kaleidoscope is designed to foster communication between postgraduates across disciplines and to promote excellence in interdisciplinary research. Kaleidoscope accepts articles and reviews from any discipline, with a focus on the annual research theme of the IAS.

Philosophical Writings

Philosophical Writings is an international journal which welcomes submissions of book reviews and articles on any area of current philosophical debate. We primarily publish original work by advanced postgraduates and new academics, though we also accept work by established academics.

eSharp

eSharp is an international online journal for postgraduate research in the arts, humanities, social sciences and education. Based at the University of Glasgow and run by graduate students, it aims to provide a critical but supportive entry to academic publishing for emerging academics, including postgraduates and recent postdoctoral students.

Postgraduate Forum E-Journal

All historical disciplines are bound up together in our postgraduate-run e-Journal. For its yearly editions, it welcomes submissions from all postgraduates in the North East of England. Topics range from prehistoric wall paintings in Brazil to history in educational films and the knights templar in the North East.

Postgraduate Journal of Aesthetics

The aim of the PJA is to offer postgraduates interested in aesthetics a space to exchange ideas, and also to promote high quality essays relevant to postgraduates' interests. The journal is published three times annually, in April, August and December. Essays are invited from postgraduate students on any topic in aesthetics.

Platform is a refereed e-journal run by postgraduates, which provides a space for postgraduate researchers and entry-level academics to publish their work. Postgraduate English is the postgraduate journal of the Department of English Studies At Durham University. The aim of the journal is to provide a space in which postgraduates in English throughout the UK and Europe can place their work and, if accepted for publication, receive a little feedback on it. The Canadian Journal for New Scholars in Education/ Revue canadienne des jeunes chercheures et chercheurs en éducation (CJNSE/RCJCÉ) is an open access, non-blind, peer-reviewed journal published by graduate students for the dissemination of works by graduate students at Canadian universities. A cross-disciplinary social sciences journal engaging in critical and political thought on contemporary societies. In-Spire encourages interaction and exchange of new perspectives between disciplines. Our themed issues pursue questions of political and ethical relevance, while our general issues publish a variety of research questions and strategies.

Rosetta: Papers of the Institute of Archaeology and Antiquity

Papers of the Institute of Archaeology and Antiquity is aimed at postgraduates and professionals from a variety of historical and archaeological disciplines, and accepts submissions on any topic covered by the IAA. As well as articles and book reviews, Rosetta also publishes shorter pieces, such as notes, conference reports, museum reports and theatrical reviews. Rosetta aims to provide a supportive yet rigorous introduction to the publishing world for postgraduates. All submissions are scrutinised by two of Rosetta’s Specialist Editors, who make suggestions and corrections for the authors before publication.

The New School Psychology Bulletin (NSPB)

The New School Psychology Bulletin (NSPB) is an Open Access, peer-reviewed research journal created and operated by graduate students at The New School for Social Research, New York City. Founded in 2003, the NSPB has become an important and valid alternative to established academic journals for all aspiring authors in the field of psychology.
